Contributing Meaningful Materials

We appreciate your interest in supporting the library by donating items. While we are open to exploring a diverse range of gifts in kind, including artworks, land, and other specialty items, we kindly request that you contact us to discuss how best to do so.

We often receive inquiries about donating books, DVDs, CDs, and other materials to the library. While we appreciate the thoughtfulness of the community in wanting to donate materials to the library, we ask that you refrain from using the library as a place to dispose of old items. Most materials we receive are not added to our collection.

Regina Public Library may accept items that are:

  • in good condition
  • published in the last 3 years
  • including the original case art (this applies to A/V material)
  • not already available in our catalogue

Regina Public Library will not accept items that are:

  • in poor condition
  • older than 3 years
  • DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, or videogames without their original packaging
  • encyclopedia sets
  • magazines or condensed books
  • audio cassettes and VHS tapes

Please ensure each item meets our donation requirements. When in doubt, give only what you would consider as good quality for your own use.

Donated materials can be taken to any RPL service desk for review. If you donate materials that are not added to the library’s collection, we will offer the materials on a library branch book sale cart, donate them to a charity, or recycle them. The library does not inform donors about the outcome of their materials donations.
